At this time, we do not take insurance, but stay tuned for future updates on this! In the meantime, we can provide a superbill upon request for you to submit to your insurance. Before we provide you with a superbill, please confirm with your insurance company what your coverage includes:
When calling to verify your out-of-network nutrition counseling benefits, be sure to ask:
Are visits to an “out-of-network” Registered Dietitian Nutritionist reimbursable? Refer to MNT procedure codes 97802 and 97803.
Ask about diagnosis code Z71.3 and if it’s covered as preventative.
Is there a limit to the number of nutrition visits?
Is a physician/provider referral required?
Do I have a deductible to meet before insurance pays?
Every Registered Dietitian can call themselves a nutritionist/health coach, but the same does not always go for nutritionists and health coaches. A registered dietitian is a food and nutrition expert and credentialed medical healthcare professional. RD's earn this credential by meeting the following criteria:
- completed a minimum of a bachelor's degree. Fun fact (and a degree that will be required for all RD's by January 2024), Julia and Mimi have their Masters in Clinical Nutrition
- Completed an ACEND-accredited supervised practice program, otherwise known as a rigorous dietetic internship
- Passing score on national examination
- Complete continuing professional educational requirements to maintain registration
Julia and Mimi are fully remote at this time. However, if you live in the Manhattan area we do offer in person grocery tours and pantry makeovers. Contact us for more information.
While Julia and Mimi are ultimately working towards the same goals for their clients (feeling good from the inside out while simultaneously improving overall health) we specialize in different areas of practice.
Julia works with women's adrenal and endocrine imbalances (PCOS, hypo/hyperthyroidism, menstrual irregularities and hormone imbalances) and provides outpatient nutritional support for eating disorders (Anorexia Nervosa, Binge-Eating Disorder, Bulimia Nervosa and Other Specified Feeding or Eating Disorder) , disordered eating and body dysmorphia.
Mimi specializes in comprehensive support for heart health, diabetes management, blood sugar control, bariatrics, prenatal care, and fostering a positive relationship with food.
Although Julia and Mimi are not 'Intuitive Eating Dietitians', they incorporate many principles of Intuitive Eating into their counseling sessions, which can ultimately help to build a better relationship with food, under internal body cues, and improve self-esteem.
We work with all clients ages 16 years and older.
